Trending: Gingham Prints & Scallop Details
10 March 2022

March 2022: The last few years have seen customers yearning for stability and calm, looking to nostalgic designs and heritage prints to evoke a feeling of comfort. Gingham and scallop motifs have seen a notable resurgence, channelling a mood of retro escapism and creating joyous, unexpected interiors.
- Habitat reported a +44% increase in online searches for gingham in the last week
- Searches for scalloped homewares have soared, with a +1300% uplift since last week
- The scalloped edged Estella Table Lamp was the bestselling product at Habitat.co.uk in February, providing a charming pick-me-up for living rooms and bedrooms
The Habitat team have seen growing demand for vintage-inspired accessories, as customers seek to transform interiors with retro touches.
"Scalloped details inspired by vintage fabrics have made a comeback across homewares. It’s a great, unexpected way to inject colour and soften edges of typically straight edged items like rugs, cushions and lampshades. Layer up in spaces that are full of prints and patterns to achieve modern, fresh vintage, eclectic style.”
Andrew Tanner, Design Manager
“Filtering across from the fashion sphere, gingham is the print of the moment. What started as a must-have for picnic blankets and tablecloths, is now popular across tableware and home accessories. We’ve included new designs on both grand and small scales: try as a statement bedlinen if you’re feeling bold or opt for a simple printed ceramic vase for a more subtle approach.”
