Spring / Summer 2022 Design Heroes
22 March 2022
March 2022: Looking back to Habitat's extensive archive, the SS22 collections build on its rich heritage of iconic design. The in-house team of 28 designers and product developers, whose expertise ranges from ceramics to carpentry, have combined archive styles with the latest interiors trends for a new and striking offering.
Committed to producing well-crafted, enduring designs, the team have ensured that all furniture lines are finished to the highest standard. A range of on-trend accessories complements these classic styles, instantly transforming interiors with a few simple touches.
Blue Wiggle Vase, £14
Inspired by the undulating waves of the Mediterranean Sea, this abstract motif is achieved through a technique where melted wax is hand-painted onto the raw ceramic, acting as a barrier to the azure blue glaze. The hand-applied process means each vase is unique.
Peio Desk, £275

Furniture designer James Cottingham was driven by multi-functional living when creating this French cane and mixed timber desk which serves as desk or dressing table. Its cocooning walls are designed to evoke a feeling of seclusion which encourages focus and concentration.
Estella Table Lamp, £65
This unique lamp is the brainchild of designer Kate Pearson, who wanted to bring an air of the unexpected to cottagecore interiors. She landed on a scalloped-edged, linen-style shade and two-tier translucent glass base in a delicate green for fresh, spring style.
Mediterranean Terracotta Vase, £14
This artisanal vase embodies the rustic warmth of Mediterranean style with its raw terracotta textures and soft, organic silhouette. The abstract pebble pattern is hand-painted in a dramatic cobalt blue to further evoke summer holiday nostalgia.
Estelle Quilted Bean Bag, £100
Offering affordable, laid-back seating solutions, Habitat’s floor cushions rocketed to popularity in the Seventies. This extra-large lounger harks back to this era, giving the bean bag a contemporary twist with chunky, ruched piping and indulgent, handsewn chenille fabric in olive green or sapphire blue.
Leaf Print Cushion, £16

Habitat’s three print designers experimented with unexpected scales and abstract colour applications to create the organic Naturalist print series. This 100% BCI cotton cushion cover features a resulting olive green and beige design, and a filling made from recycled plastic bottles.
Optimist Serveware, from £3.50
When the tableware team chose to experiment with the popular speckled tableware trend, rather than using the standard single shade, they landed on a melting pot of five hues which are hand-applied in loose brush splashes by ceramic artists in Portugal.
Ronda Chair, £280
Habitat’s product development team built on their obsession with occasional chairs to create this cocooning Art Deco design. Reminiscent of retro 1970s interiors, the voluptuous tub shape is wrapped in an inviting marshmallow pink or soft sage velvet. The footprint has been kept tight to suit living or bedroom corners short on space.
Corduroy Touch Table Lamp, £52
Lighting designer Tom Sullivan looked to Habitat’s rich design archive to inspire this Seventies-style table lamp. The mustard corduroy shade is emblematic of the era and contrasts with a deep walnut stained FSC wood base with a built-in touch function.
Naturalist Vases, from £14

Hand-decorated in Portugal by artisan ceramicists, these monochrome vases feature reactive matte glazes on a terracotta base, blending architectural forms with organic tactile surfaces.
Rafa Rattan Armchair, £250

Evocative of European café culture, this low-slung, lounging design is the epitome of laidback living. Rattan was the logical material to create a handmade chair, lightweight in both look and feel. Highly pliable when steamed, the design team was able to achieve the fluid, curvaceous arms that give the chair its slouchy look.
Kota Velvet Footstool, £165
Part of the Habitat family since 2015, the Kota range is a bestseller every year so extending the style to a footstool was a unanimous decision for Habitat’s six-strong furniture design team. The generously sized cushion is expertly hand-upholstered with button detailing, atop hand-turned ash wood legs, ideal for reclining or serving as a perch.
