Available from 18 April 2023, Habitat has teamed up with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew to create a botanical inspired homeware collection that celebrates the quintessentially British activity of afternoon tea. Spanning ceramic dinner sets and teaware to cotton textiles, the range interprets the rare and endangered plants housed in Kew’s glasshouses and gardens, with prices starting from £4.

Comprising 23 pieces, the range was brought to life by Habitat’s in-house design team who drew on Kew's extensive archive of 750,000 photographs and sketches that examine plants from around the world. The talented print and pattern designers have worked to delicately and authentically translate various leaves and flowers into a contemporary painted style, with a vibrant and tropical colour palette of teal, emerald and coral. Highlights of the collection include a teapot and serveware that features a unique speckled glaze and a hand-painted rim, along with co-ordinating cotton apron and napkins.

The collection was photographed in Kew Gardens’ iconic Palm House, the world’s oldest surviving glasshouse and home to an indoor tropical rainforest featuring plants from some of the most threatened environments in the world.

“As one of the most extensive and important botanical gardens in the world, the Habitat design team were thrilled to collaborate with Kew to create a collection that brings the beauty of the gardens to entertaining. We set out to capture the essence of Kew Gardens, exploring the unique markings, colours and patterns found in nature, and bring a fresh and vibrant spring-like floral touch to dining.”
Andrew Tanner, Head of Design at Habitat
"We know that spending time in nature is good for the soul so it’s wonderful to see the beauty of plants bringing life into pieces that can be used every day in the home, celebrating some of the world’s richest and most spectacular plants.”
Quincy Leon, Head of Licensing at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

The new collection heralds Habitat’s first design collaboration since it became the lead home and furniture brand for retailers Sainsbury's and Argos in 2021 and will be available online at habitat.co.uk, Argos.co.uk and in selected Sainsbury’s stores from April 2023 with prices ranging £4-£25.

Offering beautifully designed, quality homeware that’s accessible and affordable, Habitat will celebrate 60 years’ of great British design in 2024.
