The Mediterranean and Optimist ranges will be available online and in selected Sainsbury's and Argos stores from May 2022.

Emulating the laid-back lifestyle of the Med, this look promotes understated, artisanal pieces for everyday living. The collection is characterised by natural materials and organic forms, using rattan, jute, seagrass and tufted textiles for a rustic feel. The artisanal painted ceramics and hand-blown glassware are ideal for displaying on shelves and tables around the home. A soft palette of sandy tones, azure and terracotta unites the collection, capturing a mood of escapism inspired by the Mediterranean coastline.

“Channelling the allure of the Amalfi coast, azure and terracotta offer a timeless appeal when combined. Reflecting the relationship between land and sky, the colour pairing is firmly based in the natural world. Promoting serenity, this calming blue is combined with the grounded stability of earth tones for a harmonious scheme which strikes a balance between warm and cool notes.”
Andrew Tanner, Design Manager

“The demand for plump curvilinear forms shows no signs of slowing down. Prioritising comfort, this style rejects the angular shapes of traditional minimalism in favour of soft cocooning silhouettes which contribute to a feeling of calm and tranquility. Organic textures are key, and raw terracotta, ceramic and tactile bouclé promote wellbeing by bringing the natural world into the home.”
Anna Cross, Homewares Buying Manager

“Our waterware collection has been hand-blown by artisan glassblowers, resulting in subtle variations in form which mean that no two pieces are the same. Blue and white stripes evoke the fluid forms of the Mediterranean sea and the overall effect is a striking and decorative tumbler and water jug.”

The Optimist collection radiates hope and positivity, reviving interiors with an energising palette of block colours. Looking to mid-century design for inspiration, functional forms are transformed with vibrant shades of sunshine yellow, tangerine and invigorating blue. A series of graphic patterns run across textiles and prints, harking back to some of Habitat’s most iconic '80s designs.

“We’re currently witnessing an '80s renaissance, with wavy mirrors, tessellated tables and checkerboard prints dominating Tiktok and Instagram feeds. Geometric forms, eclectic prints and a bold primary colour palette are at the core of this style, which gives a nod to the iconic Memphis designs of the period. Bringing a lighthearted sense of fun to the home, customers are increasingly looking to this joyful aesthetic as an uplifting antidote to the rigours of modern life."
Andrew Tanner, Design Manager

“We’ve built on our best-selling cookware collection, introducing kitchen essentials in a range of lively hues. Firecracker orange and royal blue marry with mustard and aquamarine to elevate everyday cooking and add a pop of colour to open kitchen shelving. Expanding on the one-pot cooking trend, a new 6.8 litre cast-aluminium casserole dish joins the range, perfect for whipping up hassle-free weeknight meals, from oven to table.”
Kate Gibson, Cookshop Buying Manager

“We designed this set with summer dinner parties in mind, featuring an on-trend splatter design that has been hand-applied by Portuguese ceramic artists. Moving away from the standard single shade typically used for this style, we landed on a melting pot of five different shades for a multi-coloured effect. Guaranteed to spark conversation, this playful set makes an ideal base for an eclectic summertime tablescape.”
