Habitat 60 Years of Design:
Inspired by the Archive

The Habitat 60 Years of Design collection heralds the return of much-loved archive designs, from the 1960’s to the early 2000’s, reimagined for modern homes by Habitat’s in-house design studio. Highlights include the iconic Chicken Brick from 1964, Larsa bistro chairs and sculptural Ribbon light that originally launched in 2004 and has since become a coveted collectible.

“Habitat’s 60th anniversary has provided us with an opportunity to look back and celebrate the last sixty years of this much-loved brand’s rich heritage and it has been a joy to delve into the Habitat archives. Our design team were truly inspired to develop considered and practical pieces that will serve our homes for decades to come and this anniversary has allowed us to bring some truly iconic pieces back into the fold, reimagining some of these classics from decades past for how we live now.”
Andrew Tanner, Habitat Head of Design

1964

Poulet Chicken Brick, £20

First introduced in 1964 and made from terracotta, the Chicken Brick has been reimagined for modern-day cooking. Designed in collaboration with the Sainsbury’s food innovation team, the piece is made from glazed and durable stoneware in a sleek matte black glaze, designed to steam cook the food in its own moisture.

Larsa Bistro Chair, Set of 2, £160

A contemporary take on the classic chair seen in European cafés and bistros, Larsa is an enduring Habitat design which was first introduced in the 1960’s. Updated in a bold red hue for Habitat’s 60th anniversary, it brings a sense of playfulness to the range.
