Design Spotlight: Natural Materials
21 November 2024
Habitat’s latest collections take inspiration from the natural world to freshen up homes this autumn, winter season. Spotlighting raffia detailing, oak finishes and solid wood accents, furniture and lighting in the range promotes an uplifting yet calming aesthetic. Subtle design elements including exposed joinery, bobbin motifs and handwoven rattan elevate the collections and add a tactile quality to each piece. Craftsmanship remains an integral component of Habitat's design philosophy, with the 28-strong in-house studio developing unique pieces alongside specialist craftspeople and manufacturers.
"We continue to be incredibly proud to work with and inspired by the specialist teams of craftspeople and manufacturers who collaborate with our talented in-house designers to develop unique and design-led pieces each season and help us to enrich our products with great stories. Many of our bedding and textile products incorporate natural dyeing techniques for earthy tones and softer palettes. We make product using traditional processes such as hand turned and carved woods across our furniture, hand slip cast ceramics, fired in Portugal, and many of our new lighting designs are created from hand blown glassware."

“Our furniture celebrates the timeless beauty of natural wood grain, with our expertly crafted oak pieces taking centre stage this season. Solid oak is a true investment in quality, renowned for its durability and rich character. The warm, ashy blonde hue of our oak complements a variety of design aesthetics, from Scandinavian minimalism to being stylishly timeless. This furniture is built to last a lifetime, becoming a cherished heirloom that enriches your home for generations to come.”
